Morning Meditation: We can be good to someone a
hundred times, but if we insult or harm them just once
they quickly forget the hundred kindnesses and remember
that one slight for a long time. Therefore, always be
mindful in your exchanges with others. (The Thirteenth
Dalai Lama)
To Practice This Thought: See your words as a stone
tossed into a pond that sends ripples in all directions.

Call To Worship
One: Lift up your voice and call out to God.
All: We cry out, believing that God hears us.
One: Come together and wait for God.
All: We come together, trusting that God is still
speaking.
One: Surely God’s presence is here with us now.
All: We wait in hope, for God’s steadfast love lifts
our hearts.
One: Come, worship the Lord.
All: We celebrate the power of God that restores
us.
Prayers of Confession
God of grace, we confess that we have elevated the
things of this world above you. We have made
idols of possessions and people and used your
name for causes that are not consistent with you
and your purposes. We have permitted our
schedules to come first and have not taken the
time to worship you. We have not always honored
those who guided us in life. We have participated
in systems that take life instead of give it. We
have been unfaithful in our covenant
relationships.
We have yearned for, and sometimes taken, that
which is not ours, and we have misrepresented
others’ intentions.
Forgive us, O God, for the many ways we fall short
of your glory. Help us to learn to live together
according to your ways through Jesus Christ, our
Lord.
Assurance of Pardon
Christ died for our sins. He made a full atonement for us.
We are forgiven and we have the promise of eternal life.
Feel that forgiveness in your heart. We are His children.
In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.
All: In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.
One: And the people said:
ALL: Thanks be to God – Amen.

SCRIPTURE & HYMNS 03 26

FIRST SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 130
Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord.
Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications!
If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could
stand?
But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be
revered.
I wait for the Lord; my soul waits, and in his word I hope;
my soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for
the morning, more than those who watch for the morning.
O Israel, hope in the Lord!
For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is
great power to redeem.
It is he who will redeem Israel from all its iniquities.
GOSPEL READING: John 11:1-7 and 30-45
Now a certain man was ill, Lazarus of Bethany, the
village of Mary and her sister Martha. Mary was the one
who anointed the Lord with perfume and wiped his feet
with her hair; her brother Lazarus was ill. So the sisters
sent a message to Jesus, “Lord, he whom you love is ill.”
But when Jesus heard it, he said, “This illness does not
lead to death; rather, it is for God’s glory, so that the Son of
God may be glorified through it.” Accordingly, though
Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus, after having
heard that Lazarus was ill, he stayed two days longer in the
place where he was.
Now Jesus had not yet come to the village but was still at
the place where Martha had met him. The Jews who were
with her in the house consoling her saw Mary get up
quickly and go out. They followed her because they thought
that she was going to the tomb to weep there. When Mary
came where Jesus was and saw him, she knelt at his feet
and said to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother
would not have died.” When Jesus saw her weeping and
the Jews who came with her also weeping, he was greatly
disturbed in spirit and deeply moved. He said, “Where
have you laid him?” They said to him, “Lord, come and
see.” Jesus began to weep. So the Jews said, “See how he
loved him!” But some of them said, “Could not he who
opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from
dying?”
Then Jesus, again greatly disturbed, came to the tomb. It
was a cave, and a stone was lying against it. Jesus said,
“Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the dead man,
said to him, “Lord, already there is a stench because he has
been dead four days.” Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you
that if you believed you would see the glory of God?” So
they took away the stone. And Jesus looked upward and
said, “Father, I thank you for having heard me. I knew that
you always hear me, but I have said this for the sake of the
crowd standing here, so that they may believe that you sent
me.” When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice,
“Lazarus, come out!” The dead man came out, his hands
and feet bound with strips of cloth and his face wrapped in
a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”

Hymns
Out of the Depths
Out of the depths, O God, we call to you.
Wounds of the past remain, affecting all we do.
Facing our lives, we need your love so much.
Here in this community, heal us by your touch.
Out of the depths of fear, O God, we speak.
Breaking the silences, the searing truth we seek.
Safe amount friends, our grief and rage we share.
Here in this community, hold us in your care.
God of the loving heart, we praise your name.
Dance through our lives and loves, anoint with Spirit
flames.
Your light illumines each familiar face.
Here in this community, meet us with your grace.
Just a Closer Walk with Thee

  1. I am weak but Thou art strong;
    Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
    I’ll be satisfied as long
    As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.
    Refrain:
    Just a closer walk with Thee,
    Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
    Daily walking close to Thee,
    Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.
  2. Thro’ this world of toil and snares,
    If I falter, Lord, who cares?
    Who with me my burden shares?
    None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.
    [Refrain]
  3. When my feeble life is o’er,
    Time for me will be no more;
    Guide me gently, safely o’er
    To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.
    [Refrain]
    Love Divine, All Loves Excelling
    1 Love divine, all loves excelling,
    Joy of heaven, to earth come down;
    fix in us thy humble dwelling,
    all thy faithful mercies crown.
    Jesus, thou art all compassion,
    pure, unbounded love thou art;
    visit us with thy salvation,
    enter every trembling heart.
    2 Breathe, oh, breathe thy loving Spirit
    into every troubled breast;
    let us all in thee inherit;
    let us find thy promised rest.
    Take away the love of sinning;
    Alpha and Omega be;
    end of faith, as its beginning,
    set our hearts at liberty.
    3 Come, Almighty to deliver,
    let us all thy life receive;
    suddenly return, and never,
    nevermore thy temples leave.
    Thee we would always blessing,
    serve thee with thy hosts above,
    pray and praise thee without ceasing,
    glory in thy perfect love.
    4 Finish, then, thy new creation;
    pure and spotless let us be;
    let us see thy great salvation
    perfectly restored in thee:
    changed from glory into glory,
    till in heaven we take our place,
    till we cast our crowns before thee,
    lost in wonder, love, and praise
